Last updated: September 20, 2026 · Tested on Playnesta's Labyrinth Dash build (upstream knightyun/maze-game @ 157f8f6) · Goal: roll the ball from the top-left entrance to the bottom-right exit
Method: every rule below was verified against this site's playable build — constants read from the shipped game (sizes 31–101, 3 difficulties, hold-to-roll keys, 5-second hint, easter-egg win modal), a headless-browser playtest confirmed starting, keyboard rolling, touch-pad rolling, win path, and zero errors. Controls: hold arrow keys or WASD on desktop, on-screen START + D-pad on mobile (tilt works where the phone exposes a motion sensor). Upstream buttons read 开始游戏 (start game) / 重新生成 (regenerate) / 地图大小 (map size) / 游戏难度 (difficulty) / 提示 (hint). This is the classic maze-escape formula, rebuilt here as an original-named playable.

1. Start at size 31 — 101 is a different sport

The map-size slider (地图大小) runs 31 to 101 in odd steps, and every maze is randomly generated, so no two runs repeat. Size 31 is a ~300-cell sprint you can finish in a minute; size 101 is roughly ten thousand cells of corridors. Learn the rolling feel at 31 first — jumping straight to 101 is how beginners get lost for twenty minutes and blame the game.

2. Hold to roll — tapping barely moves you

Movement is hold-to-roll: press and HOLD an arrow key or WASD and the ball keeps rolling until you release (keyup stops it). Quick taps only nudge the ball a few pixels. On the touch pad, press-and-hold ▲▼◀▶ the same way — a fast tap-tap reads as almost nothing. Commit to a direction, then release early before junctions.

3. The three difficulties are not in the order you think

The difficulty menu (游戏难度) lists 简单 (easy), 困难 (hard), 复杂 (complex) — but under the hood, 复杂 generates the trickiest mazes and 困难 sits in the middle. Order your practice easy → hard → complex, not top-to-bottom as labeled. If complex feels unfair at size 101, drop back to size 31 at the same difficulty: small-complex teaches the reading skill without the marathon.

4. Let the 5-second hint teach you, then beat it hint-free

About five seconds after you press start, the hint button (提示) fades in — it draws the correct escape path on the maze. Beginners should use it freely on the first runs: study WHY the path works (which wall it hugs, where it doubles back), then hit regenerate (重新生成) and run the same size hint-free. Clearing the maximum size-101 maze with no hint triggers the fireworks easter-egg modal — the game's only trophy, and it cannot be earned with help.

5. Entrance top-left, exit bottom-right — run the wall rule

Every maze puts the entrance at the top-left edge and the exit at the bottom-right edge. When stuck, pick one wall (say, the right-hand wall) and follow it without lifting: the wall-follower rule guarantees you eventually reach the exit in any simply-connected maze, and it beats random wandering every time. Combine it with tip 2 — hold along the wall, release at each opening to peek.

FAQ

How do I win?

Roll the ball into the bottom-right exit square. A toast confirms the escape (恭喜抵达出口); a hint-free clear of the size-101 maze opens the fireworks congratulations modal instead.

Why does tapping the keys do almost nothing?

By design: the game rolls the ball on a held-key timer, so taps are single micro-steps. Hold the key (or pad direction) to keep rolling, and release to stop.

What do the Chinese buttons mean?

开始游戏 = start game, 重新生成 = regenerate maze, 地图大小 = map size, 游戏难度 = difficulty, 提示 = hint. The win toast reads 恭喜抵达出口 (escaped the exit) and the easter egg reads 恭喜通关 (cleared).

Does it work on mobile?

Yes — use the on-screen START button, the ▲▼◀▶ D-pad (press-and-hold), and ↻ to regenerate. Phones with a motion sensor can also tilt; the 310-pixel default court scales to viewports as narrow as 390px with no sideways scroll.

Where can I play it?

Right on this site's labyrinth-dash page. The game is a self-hosted modification of the MIT-licensed maze-game by Knight Huang (knightyun); license and attribution are listed under the game.
