1. Finish row by row — lock row 1 before touching row 3
The only winning shape is 1-2-3-4 across the top row, then 5-6-7-8, and so on, with the empty square bottom-right. Beginners scramble the whole board at once; instead, place tiles 1-4 and then never move them again. Each locked row shrinks the puzzle: 4x4 becomes 4x3, then 4x2, and the last two rows are a small puzzle you already know how to finish.
2. Slide whole rows at once — one tap moves many tiles
Tapping any tile in the empty square's row or column slides every tile between it and the gap in a single move. Use that deliberately: line up two or three tiles of the target row elsewhere, park the empty square at the row's end, and pull them all home together. It is the fastest way to place tiles and the move most beginners never notice.
3. Park the empty square where the work is
The empty square is your only tool — a tile can only move into it. Before placing a tile, move the gap next to that tile's destination first, then slide the tile in. Chasing tiles around the board while the gap sits in a corner is the classic beginner loop; drive the gap, and the tiles follow.
4. Never break a locked row to fix the row below
The most common self-inflicted wound: dragging a locked 1-2-3-4 apart to free a tile for row two. Work around finished rows instead — route tiles through the unfinished lower rows, even if the path looks longer. Rebuilding a broken row costs far more moves than any detour.
5. Stuck at the last tiles? Reshuffle is practice, not defeat
Every deal from the reshuffle bar is a fresh solvable puzzle (the 300-move random-walk shuffle cannot produce an impossible board). If the bottom-right corner knots up beyond reading, take the new deal: ten fresh puzzles teach the row-by-row pattern faster than one tangled board, because the opening placements — where the pattern lives — repeat ten times instead of once.
FAQ
How do I move tiles?
Tap (or click) any tile in the same row or column as the empty square — it and every tile between slide toward the gap. On desktop the arrow keys pull neighboring tiles into the gap.
What counts as winning?
Tiles ordered 1-15 left to right, top to bottom, with the empty square bottom-right. The win banner appears the moment the last tile lands.
Is every puzzle solvable?
Yes — this build shuffles by 300 random legal moves from the solved state, so every deal is solvable by construction. No impossible boards, ever.
How do I start a new puzzle?
Tap the reshuffle bar at the bottom (or the win banner's shuffle button). The new deal is immediately playable.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes — tiles are tap targets that slide natively, no keyboard needed. The 360-pixel board fits viewports as narrow as 390px with no sideways scroll.
Where can I play it?
